However the Clip equippment is as you know a case with a laptop mounted inside - underneath the laptop (case bottom) is all nessesary electronics required to operate the Clip located. Regarding the CAN adapter i assume it is to handle the CAN bus protocol required on some vehicles - others again run on KWT 2000 standards and requires no CAN support on engine diagnostics alone. I have tried and install it on several machines only to get instant aborted installation due to 'not a valid clip platform' - afterhand i was told that it only works on some laptop models (true or not i do not know.) but i assume its required to have the clip interface (electronics hardware) installed before it will accept any software installation. I bought the software myself before i knew enough (?) about it.
